Pathophysiology of Diabetic Nephropathy
Sherril Sego
Diabetic
nephropathy is the primary etiology of chronic kidney disease and
kidney failure. With the incidence of type 2 diabetes rapidly
increasing in the United States, it is imperative for health care
professionals to clearly understand the mechanism of this condition and
the implications for prevention. Early recognition of the diabetic
state and tight serum glucose control can help prevent the consequence
of diabetic nephropathy and its associated life-altering comorbidities.
