A Preceptor Training Program Model for the Hemodialysis Setting - Download article and take CE posttest
Michael R. Henning
The
implementation of a preceptor training program is an integral step to
improving the education of nurses entering the specialty of nephrology
nursing. This preceptor training model integrates the components of the
preceptor, orientee, educational support, administrative support, and
incentives to form a basis for an effective preceptor program model.
This model was piloted in a group of outpatient dialysis facilities.
Benefits were achieved from the program, including nursing growth,
leadership development, and anticipated improved nurse recruitment and
retention.
